Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner.

As many of the people that read and see my blogs know, I am a huge fan of sports. Football, basketball, baseball, hockey, you name it. Keeping up with and watching both college and professional sports has been my hobby for as long back as I can remember. However, I feel like I am a fan of a not so popular sport and that is NASCAR, which stands for the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing.  I have been a NASCAR fan for about fifteen years now. My favorite driver has been Denny Hamlin throughout this time. Denny drives the number eleven car and his sponsor has always been FedEx. Denny is both a team owner and a driver. He and Michael Jordan are team owners of 23XI racing, 23 for Jordan and XI for Hamlin as his number is eleven. Denny drives for Joe Gibbs Racing, a different team, and has driven for them for his entire career. There can be anywhere from 36 to 43 drivers each week fighting for the win. The odds of your favorite driver winning the race are already little ...

Dead Week

This week is the beginning of what is called dead week. It is given this name due to the fact that finals are next week. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if it truly was a dead week, wouldn't there be no classes? Maybe, maybe not. If that's not why it gets the name then it would be fitting because every brain on campus is just tired and maybe even dead. To be straight to the point, it's been a long ride this semester. Something that is making it feel longer is the fact that many schools around here have finished for the semester and are on summer break. Some of my friends have graduated already and we still have two more weeks. I know this can sound like a broken record because it was the same concept in the winter. We had such a long break and it seemed like we were the last to get back going. It all works out in the end, though. I'm pretty lucky because I don't have many big projects or stressful finals this semester. I'm more than excited to be nearing the en...

The Sim $

In this Principles of Social Media course there was something a little different that we were required to do. There was a simulation, Social Media Simternship, where we had to take what we learned in class and put it to the test working for a hypothetical brand called Buhi.  The point of this simulation was not only to try to make the most revenue out of everyone in the class, but also to learn what, when, how, and why to post social media content. One of the first and most important things that I learned in the sim was the optimal times to post on each day and on each platform. If the best time to post on TikTok was at 9 a.m. on a Tuesday, then you should plan to post on this day at this time to get the best results and engagement. I enjoyed working through the sim, although some parts were a little confusing or hard to understand. Some of the things I took away from it have to do with the importance of big brand companies, and any company for that matter, knowing who their target...

Nineteen years in the Making

For the first time in nineteen years, the Toronto Maple Leafs have successfully moved on from the first round. The Maple Leafs defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games in a best-of-seven game series. It was a drought that was among few of its kind in any American professional sport. Not making the playoffs is common, but making them and failing to get past the first round is quite rare.  The Maple Leafs didn't fail to worry those watching, however, as they won the first three out of four games and then lost game five. At this point, many thought they were going to fall back into their old ways and find yet another way to lose a series. They had lost a series while being up three games to one, so people didn't doubt that it could happen again.  I'm not a Maple Leafs fan but I am a fan, however, of feel good stories. Rooting for teams that are in droughts, new to the playoffs or underdogs in a series, in any sport, comes very easy to me. This series was entertaining f...
