Three wins, one sweep.

The 2023 Major League Baseball season began last Thursday. It is a fresh start for each of the 30 teams in the league. Those that did well last season are trying to repeat their success and then some, and teams that were not so hot finally get their chance to flip the script. Many of you know that I am from Texas, and this is important to this story because the Texas Rangers are my favorite baseball team. They are a great example, sadly, of a team that lines up with those that are impatiently waiting to get the nasty taste of last season out of their mouths. They opened up the season against the Philadelphia Phillies, who respectfully made it to the World Series last year.

Despite getting off to a slow start, the Rangers found the column in game one. It was not pretty by any means, but a win is a win. Newly signed superstar pitcher, Jacob deGrom, failed to get far into the game and did not play his best game, allowing 6 runs in just under four innings of work. Texas exploded for nine runs in the fourth inning and would go on to win the game 11-7.

In the second game, it was all Texas. They would go on to win by a whopping 13 runs, 16-3. Another pitcher that the Rangers signed in the off-season, Nathan Eovaldi, got the win for his five solid innings of work. Catcher Mitch Garver hit two home runs and had six runs batted in.

The final matchup of the series was aired on ESPN and was a primetime game on Sunday night. This game was much different than the other two in terms of scoring, as both teams combined for three total runs. The Rangers, however, scored two of the three to complete the series sweep over the former National League champions. The Rangers wore their awesome powder blue uniforms and played great while looking the part as well. Martin Perez threw an outstanding game, going nearly six innings with seven strikeouts and only allowing one run. The three pitchers that followed Perez were even better as they allowed a combined one hit in the remaining three innings.

Starting the season with a series win is usually a great start, but starting the season with a sweep is as great as it can get. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come and not just some fluke. The MLB season is long and grueling so, truthfully, anything can happen at any time. Anyways, go Rangers.

  1. Chase Coburn: That's crazy because I also wrote about Texas Rangers. That's really cool that you also like the Rangs. I'm hoping for a better season than last year because we spent so much money. So we better be good.

  2. Drayton Virgo: It has been a long time since I payed attention to anything baseball related. Although I never skip when it makes its way on to my feed. I was a Yankees fan when I was younger thanks to Jeter. Now I just think its interesting with the new rules being added. The pitch count is the one that everyone is talking about so hopefully it does what it is suppose to which is make the game shorter. Overall more entertaining who knows might get back into it.

  3. Great post Cade! Wish nothing but the best for the Rangers this year unless they play the Red Sox! Great to have baseball back!

Ready To Get It Over With

I don't know about you, but spring break felt like a summer tease. I was feeling super optimistic about nearly everything, the vibes were good, I was excited about being halfway through the semester, and then I came back to school. For the most part, I'd say I'm happy, but at this point, I'm just ready to get it over with. Deep in the back of my mind I can just feel that the remainder of the semester isn't going to be easy whatsoever. There are still midterms, and before I know it, it will be time for final exams. As I was walking to my classes today I was trying to motivate myself by thinking that no other day will be as hard as today. Coming back from break can be difficult and getting back into a groove can feel like it's impossible. I hope I'm not alone in saying that this week is a great week to get back into shape. With that being said, I hope everyone had a good spring break and enjoyed doing what makes you happy with people that make you happy. Tweet, Tweet, Tweet.

In chapter six we are going to learn the ins and outs of Twitter. This app was first introduced in 2006 by Jack Dorsey. His ultimate idea was coming up with and forming a platform where people could update others in around 140 characters. Today, according to the book, a whopping 465 million people actively use Twitter every month and more than half a billion tweets are shared each day. Marketing with Twitter can be seen as both similar and different to marketing with the other popular platforms. Compared to Facebook, Twitter users are around three times more likely to follow a brand. I wonder why this is? According to the book, Twitter is just a better opportunity for businesses looking to expand upon their platform when it comes to marketing. Twitter is a great place for marketing. Businesses are really involved and it is very easy for the users to come across a certain brand. This is key for a business as the consumer, or the user, can see their brand or product and potentially even ...

Benefits of Blogging

Hello everyone!      After reading chapter 12 a question comes to my mind.. If you could choose one form of blogging to have a career around which would it be? Blogging, vlogging, or podcasting? I have watched many vlogs on youtube and over the past couple of years people have started posting vlogs on TikTok and these vlogs are much shorter in time but still a good experience. I like to watch vlogs by people especially when they are travelling somewhere that I one day would like to go. Of course, the only difference between a vlog and a blog is that a vlog is a video so for some it may be more enjoyable to watch rather than to read the more traditional blog, but both are great nonetheless. Podcasts have rapidly come a long way and I appreciate them. Sports and true crime podcasts are my favorite and I prefer listening to them on a long roadtrip or while I am doing homework. If you enjoy listening to podcasts, which is your favorite? To be honest, I hav...
