Snap, Chat, Send.

Something that is well-known is that Snapchat is used heavily by a much younger audience. According to our textbook, the largest age group of users are those between the ages of 18 and 24. To be honest, I would argue that it seems to be younger than that. I can believe it though, because I know at least 98% of the people on this campus use Snapchat. I would bet on it. Another statistic is that a mere 1/5 of Snapchat users have a college degree. Clearly, this stat runs hand in hand with the largest age group.

Since we all have Snapchat and use it each and every day, I'm sure we could explain the ins and outs of the platform from our first hand experience. I would say I use Snapchat more as a platform for primarily communication rather than finding my news. Although there are news, current events, and ways for me to be engaged with news, I just don't pay attention to it as much there. Although I use it for communication, I don't use it as much as I used to. If I need to get a hold of someone I don't prefer snapping them.

In my opinion, one of the weirdest things about Snapchat is the Snap Map. I get the big picture but I think it's weird that you can be friends with someone on Snapchat without actually knowing them and being able to see their location if they had it on for the public to see. Like I said, I get the big picture and can see the positives of it but it's a bit eerie to me in ways.

Like every platform, you have control of what you want your friends or other people associated with you to see. Snapchat is an iconic brand now and has always stood out since the day it came out. It is funny to see the other platforms follow in the footsteps of Snapchat, such as Instagram and Facebook, and use the stories feature and also be able to send pictures and send them in the same fashion you do on Snapchat.

  1. I completely agree that Snapchat is used more as a communication platform rather than a cut and dry social networking platform, but truly they do have a lot to offer in terms of marketing! It's a weird app to use but it's effective!

Ready To Get It Over With

I don't know about you, but spring break felt like a summer tease. I was feeling super optimistic about nearly everything, the vibes were good, I was excited about being halfway through the semester, and then I came back to school. For the most part, I'd say I'm happy, but at this point, I'm just ready to get it over with. Deep in the back of my mind I can just feel that the remainder of the semester isn't going to be easy whatsoever. There are still midterms, and before I know it, it will be time for final exams. As I was walking to my classes today I was trying to motivate myself by thinking that no other day will be as hard as today. Coming back from break can be difficult and getting back into a groove can feel like it's impossible. I hope I'm not alone in saying that this week is a great week to get back into shape. With that being said, I hope everyone had a good spring break and enjoyed doing what makes you happy with people that make you happy. I fee...

Tweet, Tweet, Tweet.

In chapter six we are going to learn the ins and outs of Twitter. This app was first introduced in 2006 by Jack Dorsey. His ultimate idea was coming up with and forming a platform where people could update others in around 140 characters. Today, according to the book, a whopping 465 million people actively use Twitter every month and more than half a billion tweets are shared each day. Marketing with Twitter can be seen as both similar and different to marketing with the other popular platforms. Compared to Facebook, Twitter users are around three times more likely to follow a brand. I wonder why this is? According to the book, Twitter is just a better opportunity for businesses looking to expand upon their platform when it comes to marketing. Twitter is a great place for marketing. Businesses are really involved and it is very easy for the users to come across a certain brand. This is key for a business as the consumer, or the user, can see their brand or product and potentially even ...

Benefits of Blogging

Hello everyone!      After reading chapter 12 a question comes to my mind.. If you could choose one form of blogging to have a career around which would it be? Blogging, vlogging, or podcasting? I have watched many vlogs on youtube and over the past couple of years people have started posting vlogs on TikTok and these vlogs are much shorter in time but still a good experience. I like to watch vlogs by people especially when they are travelling somewhere that I one day would like to go. Of course, the only difference between a vlog and a blog is that a vlog is a video so for some it may be more enjoyable to watch rather than to read the more traditional blog, but both are great nonetheless. Podcasts have rapidly come a long way and I appreciate them. Sports and true crime podcasts are my favorite and I prefer listening to them on a long roadtrip or while I am doing homework. If you enjoy listening to podcasts, which is your favorite? To be honest, I hav...
